A Parable: The Conclusion

.
After generations of searching, the Old Man at last found his gem!!!

It was hard work. So many jeered him as he was knee deep in the mud pit arms and face dirty with mud. They had even attempted to attack his daughter. But that Old Man used all his resilience to sustain the family and find his gem.

Now, he returned to the council of men. He was much more humble than he had started out, because now he understood that he could not trust himself against arrogance until the day he died. He also became humbled when the thought of his appreciation for those who welcomed him back. Those who were envious of his gem; their own fires of jealousy consumed them and they were no more.

Once again the council of men was at peace again.

Miriam, thanks for this parable.

Sometimes it takes losing a thing to really appreciate what you had.
