Sevivon sof sof sof

Its almost Chanukah!!  I can feel the excitement in the air.  The bakeries are already offering soufganiot for the impatient.

I've already double checked my stash of sevivons for when the time comes to play them.  They are also known as dreidels.  Funny, I took a look at my plan, wooden dreidel and.....

There are so much more fancier dreidels out these days:

Check out Amazon's decorated to the hilt dreidel!

Nowadays there's metalic dreidals...

Yemenite art dreidels...

And dreidels with music and lights...

Dreidel is a competitive game in which all players take turns to spin a top which has letters on different sides.  Coins are put out as wagers.  If it lands on the letter Gimel then the spinner gets all the wagered coins.  If it lands on Nun, then the spinner gets none.  If it lands on Heh, they get half and if it lands on Pey, they have to actually add to the wager.

This game is played by Jewish people during the eight days of  Chanukah.  What kind of dreidel are you getting this Chanukah??

Israeli Forces join with Kenyan Police

Please G-d, cause this to end well during this beautiful holiday of Sukkot.

Negotiation strategies.

News on Kenya (not about Israeli forces joining)

Sukkot, Sukkot, Everywhere!

Yes, its the festival of booths, sukkot where everyone builds little huts and lives in them fearlessly to recognize --its from G-d that security comes from, not from super locks and police, etc.

Here are the halachot (laws) of building a sukkah

In the African communities, some are just now finding out what is sukkot, so they can celebrate it better next time around.  Others have got it together with an African pizzazz too!!

Here is a sukkah from Awka, Nigeria made with bamboo sticks and palm leaves. Totally kosher!!

G-d willing, next year we'll have more communities ready with their sukkot.

Happy Holidays!!! Chag Sameach!!

Kenya Shoot out At a Nairobi Mall

Here is the story (LINK)

The mall was Israeli owned.

Hilary Clinton -to visit Israel

Hilary Clinton is set to visit Israel. Curious what will be said behind closed doors.  Definitely NOT going to be anything like Glenn Beck's message, but we can hope...

I like that the Iron Dome is called the Iron Dome, in Hebrew its the " Iron Kippah" (kippat barzel). Here's a video of this kippah at work...

The Jewish people are one of the few people who actually have a deed to the land, a document that says Israel should be ours. Something like that can probably make many "take over" nations hate us and want us gone for how can they look at the people that lived in the land before them with a serious face?

Nevertheless, if we do not keep our side of the bargain, than what good is that document.  We have to keep Shabbat, eat kosher, and do the mitzvot and celebrate the festivals so that we can claim Israel.

Derailment for the "Enlightened" Hebrew Israelites

For those rare Hebrew Israelites who actually found a way to reject hate from their hearts and seek to be a part of the Jewish people....

WATCH OUT!!!

There are many people who will seek to derail your efforts.  The latest that I've seen are Black folks who claim to be "rabbinical Jews" and somehow they have access to Torah books, and they lure awakened Hebrew Israelites and other black folks to their version of "rabbinical Judaism."  Something that has no relationship with the actual Jewish people what so ever. No conversion necessary.  I guess these are some new offshoot branch, just like messianic, commandment keepers or well, Hebrew Israelite.

Just a warning.

Picture of the Day

A big burly scholar in the making?

too sweet!!!

He reminds me of  Reish Lakish.  A talmid Chacham (Torah scholar) back during the times of the Roman rule in Israel.  He used to be a gladiator before he became a Talmid Chacham.
