Mommy Advice -What Do You Say?

.

Is it okay to call a child who loves to talk and ask questions, a chatterbox? Could that become a stigma? Is that a stretch?

Sounds to me that you have one smart child there.

Chatterbox is defined as "An extremely talkative person."

If you use the term, you're only reinforcing what you believe he/she is already.

Want to change the behavior?

Try calling him or her "thoughtful", of course with an explanation of what that means.

And each and every time the "chatter" begins, remind the child of his/her "thoughtfulness."

I think I'm the only one that's going to respond to this entry.
