Psalm 23

.
A Psalm of David
God is my shepherd, I shall lack nothing.
In lush pastures He makes me lie,
besides tranquil waters, He leads me.
My soul, He restores,
He directs me in paths of righteousness
for the sake of His name.
Though I walk
in the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil for You are with me,
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table for me
in the full presence of my enemies,
You annointed my head with oil.
my cup overflows.
May only good and kiness pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the House of God
for long days.

A favorite of mine, this Psalm. In the King James version God becomes the Lord.

As in: "The Lord is my shepherd." If the word Lord/God is replaced with Love, the Psalm takes on new meaning:

Love is my shepherd, I shall lack nothing. Love makes me lie besides tranquil waters, Love leads me.
My soul, Love restores.
Love directs me in paths of righteousness for the sake of His name.
Though I walk
in the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil for Love is with me,
Love's rod and Love's staff, they comfort me.
Love prepares a table for me,
in the full presence of my enemies.
Love anointed my head with oil.
My cup overflows.
May only good and kindness pursue me
all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the House of Love
for long days.

How odd. I was thinking about this Psalm a few days ago and even about doing a post on it; and even referenced it in a comment at Torrance's blog. I still might.
