Shalom Miriam,
Something told me to come to your web site today even though I was here yesterday, and look what I found!
I read about this man yesterday on a site called falsemessiah(an ex-chabbad guy who goes after the religious acting up)and told people to go read his book instead of the useless speculation about him.

One comment had the guy converting for financial gain, others thought the sight of a Black Jew was just plain ole funny, and one said he'd love to have this guy over for a Shabbas meal.

I think of all the comments, that one upset me the most, because I know it feels to be stuck at a Shabbat or Yom Tov table and the next thing you know here comes the questions!.
I'd love to get your feedback on how you deal with that.

Omg! yes the "questions". It got to the point where I didn't even go to new places, just the familiar ones. Also the Dati Leumi seemed to have the derekh eretz not to ask such questions.

I remember once my friend and I went to a "new" place and the lady just couldn't put that pot of food fast enough before those questions started spilling out of her mouth. So we gave this really loooooooong and boring devar Torah about separating meat and dairy and took the whole time. Needless to say, the family hated us afterwards. lol.

As time went by though, I've gotten less chutzpah, so I simply tell ppl that I just don't want to get into it.
