Kabbalistic Tangents and the "N" Word

I don't profess to know kabbalah in the slightest, but from the little bit that I have gleened from various sources, its very interesting the amount that is already proliferated throughout various societies. Somehow societies seem to just pick up on things in the air simply because it feels or sounds right --but its so inline with kabbalah! For example:

One major similarity is how kabbalah talks about the color red. Red is the color that represents Gevurah - strength, restrain, harshness. And, its interesting that in many countries, the color red is used for STOP signs (restrain), poisonous notices(strength), or other alarming things (harshness).

Another similarity is how God's ineffable name (well, one of them anyway) is written with four letters. At the same time, many foundational things are also listed in fours: DNA is divided into four parts (adenine, guanine, thymine, and cytosine); The four elements are known throughout various societies-fire, water, wind, dust; the four blood types; four seasons (? that may be a stretch.)

Now this is a difficult one. When I first learned about this word, it sounded too much like another "n" word that I knew from back in America. Nigey means the children who are born from spilled seed -whether its from a man with another man's wife, or some other "illegal" means (simply not being married is not one of those "illegal" means), they always produce children -physical or not. The children can be just spirits with no particular purpose in the world and so, with nothing else to do, they latch on to the father and 'encourage' him to continue this lifestyle so as to produce more children like them (when the man tries to mend his ways, he gets bombarded with depression, possibly compulsiveness, or other psychological worries).

Some may refer to these as subhumans. But I wonder, if some people -in an attempt to degrade others- try to convince themselves that a group is subhuman. And I wonder, if just by whatever's in the air, they come up with the "n" word that is very much similar to Nigey? I totally don't agree with them and I know that they use it as a ploy for their own minds- to justify their maltreatment of others.

But I do fear when others begin to use it on their own selves. Even if its in an attempt to show how ineffective that word is at hurting them, I still find it disturbing to place such a "crown" upon one's head.

Could those two n-words be related? Can they be one and the same? Can calling oneself such an "n" word subconsciously lead a society towards a world of sexual promiscuity, gang rape, baby daddys, etc?

At any rate, its all quite interesting to me the things that I read compared to how society just seem to 'know' things. Sooner or later, we will all be on the same page with whatever the absolute truth is.

OMG! Rosh HaShanah is Around the Corner

With all the excitement going on here, Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, is just around the corner!

There are several "new years" in the Jewish calendar. The month of Shvat is the new year for trees; Nisan (April, Mayish) is the new year for the Jewish people (they finally left Egypt and became a people); Elul is new year for tithe; and of course, is Tishrei (September-ish) where Rosh Hashanah falls. Its the new year for the creation of man.

I really love the high holiday service! The prayer melodies are so beautiful and the words are melting. My favorite part of the Rosh Hashanah service is when we ask God to "open the gates". In the sephardi synagogue I used to attend in Chicago, the Cantor /Hazan would lead the congregation in a melodic way through each gate (gates of income, gates of good health, gates of knowledge.....etc). What will be this Rosh Hashanah? I don't know. I'm not so capable to get up and go these days.

Whatever, I pray you all enjoy this day! May it be prayerful, reflective, and most importantly, Joyous. May we all be inscribed in the book of life.

Pots, Bowls, Cups and other Thoughts

And Other Containers

We are all familiar with our various containers. You have your basic bowl to put food in. Your basic tupperware, Your basic box for various things, plastic, metal, wood, whatever material you want.

There are also spiritual containers and vessels. These may not seem like containers at first, but they are. One example is a box called "Joy". This container enables you to have good health and even prophecy the sages say. Another example is a vessel called "Acts of Kindness" or "Charity", in proverbs it is written, "Charity saves from death"! This vessel holds life.

When God was in creation mode, He wanted to make a vessel that could hold His own attributes such as Kindness, Harshness, Harmony, Endurance, Empathy, Foundational, and Kingly. Something with the ability to draw down new life, just as the Almighty can create new life. Something that can receive and give. The Holy One, Blessed Be He, created and destroy, created and destroyed worlds after worlds until He finally created this ultimate vessel: Us!

I've often wondered if our emotions are tied to the spiritual world. Could our emotions be the container, so to speak, for the influencial spirits going around us? And if so, how do they manage to tweek our glands (which sends forth the hormones which enables us to react with the due emotion)?

Just like a computer that understands binary codes (01100101, etc)and has to have an interface program to help it to read /interprete the codes we feed it; so to we must have an interface program that serves as a go between for the spiritual and the physical. I wonder what that is?

Political Shtuff

I've been away, as y'all know, but its so refreshing to come back to blogging. I've been at Essential Presence catching up on her various political posts. Can somebody hire this girl as a political pundit?! Can she have her own podcast? Her posts are always fun and funny to read. You can check it out too!

I still have so many other blogs to catch up on. Will be stopping by your blog very soon!

A bunch of friends gathered together after the celebratory meal, this past Sunday, to shmooze at my place. The conversation turned to what is going on in America. What with Fanny mae and various other big companies in need of bail outs. All that talk made me wonder, who in their right mind would want to be president of the USA at the moment? What a big challenge they'd be up against. Could that be why all the candidates are those who are inexperience? All the experienced ones are hiding and would not touch this situation with a ten foot pole?

Hi All,

I have been away. But have some BIG news! This blogger is the proud mama of a 9 pounder baby boy!

Say hello to Naphtali Nehorai.

He was born on Sunday of last week, but didn't have a name until today -his circumcision ceremony (and naming). I've been way too busy to even come close to a computer.

More later...

Another beautiful story from Israel:

There are places call Beit Hachlama in Israel, where new mothers go with their babies. They are somewhat like hotels but only for mothers and babies; and they are equipped with a nursing staff that take care of the babies while the mothers just sleep and eat, sleep and eat, sleep and eat.

Anyway, I spent some time there and will hopefully blog about that. But when my time was over, my husband came with a credit card to pay for my stay. They did not accept credit cards.

It was the day of the circumcision and it was hectic and my husband was upset that he'd have to go to an ATM machine, get money, come back to the Beit Hachlama to pay. Time consuming. But what could he do?

Well, the kind cab driver who drove hubby there just opened up his box and gave hubby all the money that he needed to pay! That was so nice! He didn't have to do this, but its just beautiful when people help one another. In turn, after my husband paid, they drove to an ATM where hubby could pay the driver back and go home.

OMG! Former Rabbi is Michelle Obama's Cousin??!

I just saw a post that says Rabbi Capers Funnye, the rabbi of Chicago Hebrew Isrealites, is the cousin of Michelle Obama!

This is the rabbi that named me Miriam originally. I used to go to that congregation. What a small world.

Enneagram and Politicians

Though I am not investing too much interest, emotion, etc. into this season's politics, it is interesting to watch and learn about the dynamics of everyone. Here's my conclusion on their personalities:

Barack Obama = Enneagram type 6

Michelle Obama = Enneagram type 1

Joseph Biden = the jury is still out.

John McCain = Enneagram type 8

Sara Palin = Enneagram type 7

Okay fine. But how does it all play out?

Type 6s are great community leaders. I think Sara picked up on that in her acceptance speech. But they really ARE great community leaders! The only problem is that they have alot of anxiety and have a hard time trusting.

6s have two possible wings -or two possible influences: the 5-ness and the 7-ness. If they lean towards 5 personality, then they may be moody as well. If more towards 7, then they may be very active and involved in alot of activities.

Famous 6s:
Phobic: Jason Alexander, Woody Allen, Alan Arkin, Kim Basinger, Candice Bergen, Albert Brooks, George Bush, Lynda Carter, Stockard Channing, Rodney Dangerfield, Ellen DeGeneres, Eminem, Sally Field, Teri Garr, Ed Harris, Janet Leigh, Jack Lemmon, Richard Lewis, Penny Marshall, Marilyn Monroe, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, Richard Nixon, Lena Olin, Anthony Perkins, Sydney Pollack, Paul Reiser, Pat Robertson, Rene Russo, Kristin Scott-Thomas, Carly Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Stewart, Meg Tilly, Brian Wilson. (from THIS website)

Type 1s are also beyond matches when it comes to being organized, efficient, and getting things done --and right! They are probably the type that will have clothes folded and neatly put away, everything is square order, etc. But the only problem is lack of emotions. She may not be the huggy feely type. Why am I analysing her? She's not running for office. lol.

1s have two possible wings / influences: 9 and 2. If they lean towards 2, then they will use their efficiency towards helping others. If they lean towards 9, then ...I am not sure.

Famous 1s
Amish, Julie Andrews, John Bradshaw, Tom Brokaw, Susan Brownmiller, William F. Buckley, John Calvin, Cesar Chavez, Ong Teng Cheong, Hillary Clinton, Confucius, Crusades, Jane Curtin, Angela Davis, Michael Dukakis, Mary Baker Eddy, Dr. Dean Edell, Daniel Ellsworth, Harrison Ford,Jodie Foster, Barry Goldwater, Al Gore, Lillian Hellman, Katharine Hepburn, Charlton Heston, Inquisition, Glenda Jackson, Peter Jennings, Joan of Arc, Samuel Johnson, Dean Jones, John Kerry, Dr. Jack Kevorkian, Ted Koppel, Dr. Laura, Laura Linney, The Lone Ranger, Martin Luther, Nelson Mandela, Miss Manners, Thurgood Marshall, George McGovern, Arthur Miller, Ralph Nader, New Zealand, Leonard Nimoy, Gregory Peck, H. Ross Perot, Pioneers, Sidney Poitier, Pope John Paul II, Emily Post, Colin Powell, Puritans, Marilyn Quayle, Yitzak Rabin, Ayn Rand, Tony Randall, Vanessa Redgrave, Donna Reed, Cliff Robertson, Eleanor Roosevelt, Bernard Shaw, Singapore, Gene Siskel, Kenneth Starr, Martha Stewart, Peter Strauss, Switzerland, Margaret Thatcher, Emma Thompson, Harry Truman, Jack Webb, Joanne Woodward, Jane Wyman.(from THIS website)

Type 8s are SCARY! They make great leaders and run by instinct. And their instincts are usually correct. Their behavior is very interesting: They'll knock a guy out if they are offended by something; they are not afraid of confrontations -and probably even thrive on them.

8s have two wings/influence: 9 and 7. If the lean is on 7, then they'll be very active people. If 9, then again not sure.

Famous Type 8s
Afghanistan, Leslie Abramson, F. Lee Bailey, Joe Don Baker, Lucille Ball, Charles Barkley, Humphrey Bogart, Napoleon, Charles Bronson, Meredith Brooks, James Brown, Richard Burton, Johnny Cash, Fidel Castro, Sean Connery, Jimmy Connors, Robert Conrad, Brian Dennehy, Danny DeVito, Mike Ditka, Bob Dole, Sam Donaldson, Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas, Milton Erickson, Indira Gandhi, John Huston, Chrissy Hynde, Joan Jett, Lyndon Johnson, Brian Keith, Nikita Khrushchev, Martin Luther King Jr., Evel Knievel, Bruce Lee, Rush Limbaugh, Mafia, Mao Tse-tung, Lee Marvin, Malcolm McDowell, John McEnroe, Golda Meir, Dennis Miller, Robert Mitchum, Judd Nelson, George Patton, Sean Penn, Fritz Perls, Julia Phillips, Julianne Phillips, Suzanne Pleshette, Queen Latifah, Ann Richards, Theodore Roosevelt, Axl Rose, Mickey Rourke, Colonel Sanders, Telly Savalas, George C. Scott, Maurice Sendak, Serbia, Tupac, Frank Sinatra, Grace Slick, Spain, Joseph Stalin, Donald Trump, Pancho Villa, Ken Wahl, George Wallace, Mike Wallace, Denzel Washington, John Wayne, Zorba the Greek.(from THIS website)

Type 7s love to be active. They want to feel everything, see everything, go everywhere, etc. They love to be kept busy and don't ever want to be bored. The only problem is that they can get so excited about things, they can be passed off as quack doctors or they won't be thorough.

7 wings /influence is 6 and 8.

Famous 7s
